{inspiration}

Over my summer holidays I hired a bunch of movies which I knew would be easy watching whilst I was sewing away, but which would also inspire/delight me with the costumes. Enter: the 1978 version of Grease starring John Travolta as Danny Zuko and Olivia Newton-John as Sandy Olsen (better known as 'Sandra D' to most I would imagine).

One of the more memorable scenes is towards the end, Danny adds a little jock to his bad boy image by replacing his T Birds leather jacket with a Rydell High School Cardigan; in a similarly inspired gesture Sandy adds a little sexy to her style and goes skin tight top to toe then adds in a little leather for good measure.

I have being daydreaming about leather pants for a couple of years now, but put off the purchase thinking I would not wear them enough to justify the purchase. But after watching this scene my brain is working over time with combinations on how I could incorporate a pair into rather regular rotation in my winter wardrobe.

I jumped onto Polyvore, and had a little play, as you do...

The first look is my amalgamation of Danny and Sandy's looks in the aforementioned scene, a boyfriend style cardigan, a little sparkle, and a dash of Pantone 2012 Colour of the Year Tangerine Tango thrown in for good measure. Perfect for a Friday night at the local during winter.
