{Hello Goodbye}

As you will know from previous years I am not one for resolutions, last year I was more inspired by words , the year before that I did not even bother with any posts on the matter, likewise the year before that.

However, looking back at the start of 2011, and all the hopes I had for it has made me realize with a slap in the face that a year has passed, and very little of what I wanted to happen, actually has. I can ‘blame’ a lot of it on the events we have gone through in the city (aka Earthquakes), however, with the start of a new year and more large earthquakes continuing to happen (yes, 15+ months on from the first earthquake we are still experiencing large aftershocks of 5.0-6.0 magnitude!), it would seem that I just need to learn to adapt, fast.

So, I have started a giant list of goals that I need and want to do in 2012, for myself personally, for my blogs and for the business. Over the next two days I hope to finalize the rest of the goals, set deadlines for them, assign budgets where necessary, and then whack them on a giant wall planner, set reminders in my calendar etc etc to make sure I stay on track.

Below are but a few which I thought were probably more relevant, or of interest to you kids!

Sew
Sew
I sewed very little in 2011 for my own wardrobe, a combination of factors, including, but not limited to: refusing to sew for my new body (post on that coming up), a lack of motivation, focusing more on my business needs than my wants. The goal for 2012 is to sew a minimum of one new garment every fortnight, and then on the alternative week in the fortnight refashion one garment. I am going to sit down and draw out a wardrobe plan and go from there. There is a ‘but’ in there, which I will enlighten you of in another upcoming post…

restyle
Restylistas
I know I know I’ve said it before, but I am still not ready to give up on restylistas, despite completely neglecting it. There are now more restyle challenge sites, and whilst it is great to see, they just don’t appeal to me. If they are not my cup of tea then I can only assume there a couple more people out there who don’t find them exciting either, so, I don’t believe I am flogging a dead horse here - yet. I have a few ideas for it, perhaps a bit of a change in tact, stay tuned…

blog
Blog
Much like my sewing I completely lost my blogging mojo in 2011, I wanted to blog, but just felt a lack of inspiration to do so. I have some ideas for regular features on the blog, for example the reinstatement of ‘Whatcha Working on Wednesday’ and some more thought provoking (and hopefully engaging) posts to get myself out of my funk - hopefully you guys like them as much as I would like you to.

MMM
Me Made May
Zoe has announced that Me Made month will happen but once in 2012 and that month to be May. This longer notice is great, and gives me something to work towards, for so many reasons this is a goal I am really looking forward to working towards.

UtBwB
Business
I really want to see my business grow in 2012, I am exploring options for getting a stall at a few craft markets around the country, hopefully the Encraftment Markets locally, and Craft 2.0 thinking nationally as they always get amazing feedback, but other than that the exact details are still up in the air. I am working on the next collection now, and want to put one more out by the end of the year, but otherwise the plan at this stage is to focus on the existing collections, and refining the designs and products I offer in each of them. I also want to branch out a little into other ventures which I hope will long term become profitable, but they are very much still in the early stages of thinking and planning as opposed to actioning.

Sweet Peas
Environmental awareness
I used to be much better around the house at using Eco store products and natural alternatives, but have got a little slack over the last year or so. I am going to pull out the Domestic Goddess book I was given a couple of years back and make my own cleaning products and room sprays etc. I would also like to garden more, which ties in with this because of the few veggies and herbs I grew this year, the only chemical that was used on them was dish washing liquid to get rid of the aphids. That has to be better than what the commercial growers I buy most of my veggies off now use non?

Bicycle
Bike to work
This is a combination of goals here, environmental awareness, saving money and becoming healthier. This will also mean a more bicycle friendly wardrobe, so expect to see a post or two on that topic!

So that’s a very brief overview of the ridiculously long list of goals I am setting myself in 2012. I truly hope that 2012 is an amazing year for me, I feel that 2011 was quite unkind, and was most pleased to kiss its big fat butt goodbye.

I also wish you guys an equally amazing year, of the numerous posts I have read on New Years dreams for 2012 over the last few days, and tweets farewelling 2011 it would seem most of us have had a rather challenging 12 months.
