Whilst I seeing lots of posts from those of you in the northern hemisphere planning your fall wardrobe at the moment, I am busy daydreaming of the fast approaching southern hemisphere summer and summer wardrobe!
With news today at work that redundancies are coming as a result of the down turn in 'clients' due to the Earthquake, I may have more time to sew in coming months than I initially thought (deja vu anyone?) .
Either way I am thinking of what colours I want to incorporate into my summer wardrobe, which silhouettes are currently working for me, and now, what combinations of those I can pull off from what is already in my stash so as not to spend unnecessarily (just in case...)
I am also starting to think more and more about a capsule wardrobe (damn you Alana for all your capsule collection pinning!), but have not got quite so far as locking in specific garments just yet.
One of the hurdles I am facing is that I have two very different colour palettes in mind for summer, today I am only showing you one because its the only one I have started to really think about what garments I may make in this colour range.
I am toying with this whole colour blocking trend, despite my hesitation to follow trends and my unashamed love of prints, Evie's post on pink and orange sort of convinced me to give it a try. I am leaning more towards bold blues and greens that the warmer colours, but did thrift both a winter weight, and summer weight fuchsia pink dress last week, so I am not going to say 'never' just yet...
I am planning lots of acid colours and prints (refer previous admission of unashamedly loving prints), gathered and pleated skirts and dresses (practical for bicycling to work), belts, bows and blazers.
I also endeavoring to adding a few pairs of platform wedges into my collection - standby in coming posts for how I plan on achieving this on a super tight budget!
At some stage I will try to give this more serious thought, sketch up a few ideas on what I need to make, and pull out my fabrics in preparation. That's possibly as far as it will get given I am trying to knuckle down and focus on the business every spare minute, but hopefully not...
