I buy things at op shops thinking they will be great with a tweak here, or a tweak there, or am given them by friends and family who know I will be able to do 'something' with them. And I will be able to, one day...
I really am trying to dwindle that blanket box down to a more realistic number during the Munted March Metamorphosis, like really trying.
So this is the skirt before:
This was one I was given by my Mum because it no longer fit her. Well, sadly it did not fit me either, I would need to lose about 2 inches around the waist to get it done up!
I did not want to lose the pretty pin-tucks so decided to adjust it from the top as opposed to just letting it out and hemming the bottom. I used some of that fabric to cut a new waistband, regathered it, replaced the standard zip with an invisible one, added a vintage clear button and voila!
The blouse you may recall is also a restyle which I posted about a couple of days ago.
I did experiment with having side pockets as well, because I hate carrying a handbag everywhere but they added too much bulk to the skirt. Given this is a much flouncier style that I would usually wear I was just too uncertain about the look to keep them.
Plus, my Dad clearly disapproved of the bulk.
* These are not necessarily in the order sewn, just in the order I randomly pick out on the day to post about.
